Hello friends, this May will be historic. 3,900 years ago a Sumerian poet wrote a recipe for beer dedicated to Ninkasi, the Sumerian goddess of beer. This was the world’s first recorded documentation of craft beer. In 1776 General George Washington surprised an unsuspecting group of inebriated loyalist soldiers the morning after Christmas Day. 235 years later, Port City Brewing Company opened its doors. In honor of these historic events, this May, we present a trivia event that covers the history, science, and culture of BEER! In honor of American Craft Beer Week, Port City presents Beer Trivia!
The Tasting Room opens at 11AM. Trivia starts at 7 p.m. Come match wits with your craft-beer drinking comrades in an effort to attain the coveted title of “Port City Trivia Champion.” Teams are limited to no more than 6 beer enthusiasts. Your host, and amateur hop sommelier, Julia, will come prepared with an almanac of answers to all your inquiries of alcohol antiquity and wort wisdom.
Rules: Trivia will start promptly at 7 p.m. Teams are limited to no more than 6 of your fellow snobs. Any team caught cheating during competition will be indentured to sow the barley fields and tend the hop bines for all eternity.
Wondering how to soak up all that delicious beer? La Tingeria will be slinging their specialties and of course, it's $2 tostada Thursday!
